The types of treatment

There are different types of treatment for cancer depending on the type of cancer, where it is and if it has spread. The type of treatment will also depend on whether the aim is to destroy the cancer and prevent it coming back, or to manage the cancer and its symptoms.

Cancer treatment methods include surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormonal treatment and biological therapies. Sometimes one method will be used, though often they are used in combination.
