Spire Little Aston Hospital and Cancer Partners UK join Anniversary Fun Run

Spire Little Aston Hospital and Cancer Partners UK have agreed a joint sponsorship package with the Great Midlands Fun Run for 2012.

The two organisations will share sponsorship of the marshal bibs, used around the 8.5 mile course through Sutton Coldfield and Sutton Park - Europe's largest urban park.

Ruth-Paulin--Helen-RoadwayRuth Paulin, Spire Little Aston Hospital Director said: "We feel it is important to make the people of Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Lichfield, Walsall and across Birmingham, Staffordshire and the West Midlands, aware of our new facilities and raise the awareness of the comprehensive range of services we offer.

"As the Great Midlands Fun Run is the largest community event in the area, it is an ideal vehicle to help us communicate that message.

"Many of the staff and indeed some of our patients regularly participate in the event, so there is a great deal of synergy between the hospital and the Fun Run and we are delighted to support the event in its 10th Anniversary year.

"I will be part of the Spire Little Aston Hospital team raising money for my chosen charity The Alzheimer's Society."

Helen Roadway, Lead Radiographer, Cancer Partners UK commented: "Cancer Partners UK is one of the leading provider of Intensity Modulated and Image Guided Radiotherapy in the UK and we operate the recently opened state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Centre adjacent to the Spire Little Aston Hospital. These advanced treatment techniques help to decrease the side effects that patients may experience.

"The Radiotherapy centre completes the already excellent cancer services offered at Little Aston to private patients from across the Midlands. We offer fast access for patients needing consultation, diagnosis and cutting edge treatments.

"I, along with colleagues from CancerPartners UK will be participating in the Fun Run on Sunday, 10 June to raise money for a number of chosen charities."

Commenting on the new partnership, Tracey Spare, Fun Run Event Director, said: "Both organisations individually contacted me about supporting the Fun Run commercially. As I had been looking to secure a new sponsor for the marshal bibs, it seemed a natural partnership to invite both organisations to share the cost of that particular sponsorship package.

"I'm delighted both Spire Little Aston Hospital and Cancer Partners UK agreed to the idea and both will have their logos on each of the 300+ marshal bibs worn by volunteers at various locations around the course on Fun Run day."
