CancerPartnersUK is an independent organisation offering a refreshingly different approach to cancer care. We work with the NHS and other providers to create modern cancer centres where the latest technology in radiotherapy and chemotherapy is seamlessly delivered in a comfortable, welcoming environment.


 

We have an experienced team with many years experience in delivering cancer care in the NHS and independent sector.

Biographies


Chairman - Doctor Arthur Porter

Arthur brings a unique blend of medical practice and business experience to CancerPartnersUK. Graduating from the University of Cambridge he carried out postgraduate studies in Radiotherapy in Canada to become Chief of Radiation Oncology at the London Regional Cancer Centre, Ontario. He then became CEO to the Detroit Medical Centre and has subsequently become Director General and CEO of McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, Quebec.


Medical Director - Professor Karol Sikora

Professor Karol Sikora is a leading cancer specialist. He was Professor of Cancer Medicine at Imperial College and Clinical Director of Cancer Services at Hammersmith Hospital for 12 years. Professor Sikora was seconded as Chief of the WHO Cancer Programme for two years.


Chief Executive - Rupert Cockcroft

Rupert Cockcroft has been a Senior Healthcare Executive for fifteen years with a particular interest in cancer provision. From 1990 – 2001 Rupert worked for Capio, Aspen, The London Clinic and Priory hospitals. And from 2001 – 2006 he was Chief Executive of The Harley Street Clinic (encompassing the Harley Street Cancer Centre) and was also responsible for cancer services across all HCA sites in London.

COO (commercial) - Raj Vasudevan

Was commercial director in HCA, responsible for new business development and insurer negotiations.

Finance Director - Lorraine Lander

Lorraine has 15 years of experience within the private healthcare sector working for BMI Healthcare, St Martins and HCA in senior finance roles.


COO (operations) - Steve Bird

Steve has worked within the independent sector for 12 years, most recently as Chief Executive of the Alexandra Hospital, Manchester. Prior to this he worked with Bupa and for ten years successfully managed 3 large and complex hospitals along with the post of Operations Officer for Bupa Wellness( a niche business comprising private health screening, dentistry and physiotherapy centres)
Steve has also held senior positions within the retail sector.

Director of Information Technology - Toby Cave

Toby has held senior IT positions for over 9 years in both the NHS and independent healthcare. Experience includes setting up processes and teams as well as hands on technical project management. - During 6 years at UCH he completed major projects including relocation of Outpatient and Radiotherapy IT from the Middlesex hospital to UCH. Implementation of chemotherapy prescribing, histopathology, document management and cancer discharge summaries. He also led a team to develop the clinical data capture components of UCH’s EPR. Toby is a qualified Biomedical scientist, PRINCE2 practitioner and has an MSc in Health Informatics.

Head of Radiotherapy - Sarah Hynd

Sarah qualified as a therapy radiographer in 1986 having studied at the Middlesex Hospital Schools of Radiography. She worked as a clinical radiographer in W1 at the Middlesex Hospital and the Harley Street Oncology Unit where she specialised in pre-treatment. Sarah was radiotherapy manager at UCLH NHS foundation Trust for 4 years before she joined CancerPartnersUK.


Head of Physics - John Pettingell

John trained in medical physics at King’s College Hospital and has more than ten years experience as a radiotherapy physicist working in both the NHS and the independent sector. As a clinical physicist at the Royal Marsden Hospital he worked in all areas of clinical radiotherapy physics. As a senior physicist at the Harley Street Clinic Oncology Unit his responsibilities included: head of treatment planning; physics systems administrator for the Aria RT Management System, the treatment planning systems and the physics wired/wireless network; and managing the prostate brachytherapy physics services at the Princess Grace and Wellington hospitals.
